As an ex-cigarette smoker, I know first hand how very difficult it is to give up smoking.  It doesn’t matter how much other people harp on about how you should give up, you have to really want/need to give up yourself to follow through with this. It takes a lot of determination, discipline and a plan of action to actually give up.  Read on to find out about the natural options available to help to give up smoking.

Help to give up smoking

Advertisements like this did not persuade people to give up smoking, but instead, encouraged them.

I smoked cigarettes for a good 10 years before I decided to give up.  My dad was a smoker, so I was bought up with a smoker around me. My grand parents all smoked and in those days, it wasn’t considered as bad for you as it is now known to be.

In fact, from the 20s to the 50s doctors promoted smoking to their patients, such as in this advertisement here.  This ad used an actor and not a real doctor, but still, we all know there is absolutely no way any advertising company could get away with this blatant promotion of their product by a doctor. AND, we all think/thought that what ever our family doctor told us, must be 100% correct, so if the doctor is promoting it, it must be ok.

In the mid 1930s, an advertising campaign for Philip Morris cigarettes referred to “research conducted by physicians”.

In one of their advertisements, it claimed that after prescribing Philip Morris brand cigarettes to patients with irritated throats, “every case of irritation cleared completely or definitely improved.”

I wonder how much their sales increased the week that advertisement came out.

Natural Options to Help Give Up Smoking

We have two main options to help people who want to or who are ready to give up smoking.

Now you may think this first option is unusual, but we stock a range of herbal cigarettes and rolling tobacco – The Honeyrose range, established in Suffolk in 1910.

These are made in the UK and the cigarettes look just like a taylor made cigarette. They feature 100% organic, wild crafted herbs such as clover leaves, marshmallow leaves and rose petals. These are matured in honey and fruit juices to give them their unique taste.

The tar level of these herbal cigarettes vary, with the higher tar levels giving a heavier smoke taste/feel.

Even though I am not promoting smoking at all, we have had literally hundreds of people who have given up smoking by swapping to these herbal cigarettes.

Honeyrose have a Stop Smoking Plan that they offer, to give advice as to how to swap to the herbal cigarettes completely.  Some people go “cold turkey” and swap from nicotine cigarettes straight to the herbal ones, but Honeyrose suggest a gradual process, so the withdrawal symptoms are minimal.

Honeyrose tell us

The Honeyrose Stop Smoking Plan allows for a natural move away from both tobacco and nicotine products. Honeyrose herbal cigarettes and smoking mixtures help provide the support needed to reduce tobacco intake without removing the physically satisfying process of selecting, lighting and holding a cigarette, especially during the difficult quitting period.

Honeyrose Herbal Rolling Tobacco (Mixture) to help give up smoking

By following the Honeyrose Stop Smoking Plan, established over 30 years ago, nicotine and tobacco intake may be gradually reduced and eventually eliminated. The Honeyrose Stop Smoking Plan takes into account the human side of stopping smoking: the need for guidance, support, and hopefully we have created a plan that understands how people feel during the difficult times when cravings are at their worst.

They go onto tell us How the Honeyrose Stop Smoking Plan Works

Honeyrose herbal cigarettes and smoking mixtures can be a reassuring way to stop smoking. The Honeyrose Stop Smoking Plan offers a way to help you replace tobacco cigarettes gradually and calmly, substituting Honeyrose herbal cigarettes for tobacco cigarettes until you finally quit smoking.

You have the added comfort of knowing that all the ingredients are non-addictive and are made of pure herbs specially treated and naturally flavoured without any added chemicals. Each time you smoke a Honeyrose herbal cigarette or use our smoking mixtures you lessen your intake of nicotine, and then the next tobacco cigarette should seem less attractive. You could soon lose the desire to smoke tobacco products.

By following the Honeyrose Stop Smoking Plan, you might be ready to quit smoking tobacco cigarettes in as little as three weeks.

Tips For Success

Enlist the support of family and friends – tell them what you are trying to do, they can help to keep you on the ‘straight and narrow’ road to success.

•    Think positively about your quit smoking plan.
•    Make sure the first cigarette of the day is a Honeyrose product.
•    Try and avoid situations which may tempt you to smoke tobacco. Keep Honeyrose nearby, in case you do feel tempted.
•    Stick to your quit smoking plan.
•    Walk more, take more exercise – you will feel measurably better with each additional walk and each tobacco cigarette you don’t smoke.
•    As an incentive, keep track of the money you will save when you stop smoking completely.
•    Have a ‘treat’ planned for when you have quit smoking completely.

Withdrawal of Nicotine

It takes around 2 weeks to lose your nicotine addiction.  After that, most of what you experience is habit.  In my own experience, one of the worst parts for me were the extremely vivid dreams that I had EVERY night for 2 years after stopping.  Every night I dreamed that I was smoking and I would wake up in a panic, thinking I had blown it and that I had had a cigarette and started smoking again, only to realise that it was only a dream.  It really did take 2 years for these dreams to stop.   I also found myself holding pens, pencils and anything else that looked like a cigarette, in the same way I did my cigarette.  I would even catch myself lifting these to my mouth!

Breaking the cycle

I smoked a lot.  I smoked from the moment I got up, until I went to bed.  I always had to have a cigarette after certain things and especially after eating.  I was pre occupied with having another cigarette and it was a major part of my thought processes  – Shall I have another cigarette.  Going out as a teenager was the worst and especially when I drank alcohol, when I would literally chain smoke.  I really do wish I had never started smoking.  Interestingly, my 3 siblings all smoked too.  All but my eldest brother have given up.

Naturopharm Quit Smoke Kit

A lot of our customers have very successfully given up smoking using the Quit Smoke Kit, which contains two homeopathic remedies.

Cravings tablets are sucked every time you feel like a cigarette.

Naturopharm Quit Smoke Pack with Craving tablets & Withdrawal Spray

Believe me when I tell you, that most addictive feelings are only momentary.  If you can suck a craving tablet and distract yourself, so you think of something else, you will lose the feeling very quickly.  If possible, leave the room and in this case, do something you usually would not associate with having a cigarette – like a shower, a run or sporting activity, or visit a friend who is a non smoker.

Withdrawal Spray is used three times a day, to help with the actual withdrawal.

Good luck with your stop smoking plan!

We would love to hear about your own results and the things you did to help yourself.
